cuppas

Dear Diary, Right now I just poured some loose assam tea into a strainer and then poured boiling water over it. It will steep in seconds. I will taste the difference. Not that I won’t go back to a tea bag. I will …. I like that too.

Yesterday I made coffee…“laughing whale, toothless shark”  decaf, roasted in Lunenburg that I bought at Flow boutique in downtown Amherst. Same results. Good strong coffee, albeit decaf, still excellent.

What you put into the cup matters. Katherine, the mocker is liking loose tea , and is getting me converted. She said she just likes the process, makes the tea seem like an event. I feel the same about coffee, liking to bring the beans, smelling it is as good as drinking it. It is nice to make the simple everyday things a beautiful ritual.

Deanne I wonder if you are part English? They like their tea made lose leaf in a tea pot.I’m part English and was brought up drinking tea and eating cookies. The tea cup in your picture is spot on.

Susan does take beautiful pics..and yours are absolutely lovely – love the lighting and the pie looks scrumptious. I converted to loose tea a year ago and discovered DAVID’s TEA – have the pleasure is in smelling them. They have an online store. Anxiously awaiting the course and have still not decided on the design – it will come.

That is all we used when I lived in England, loose tea. Having to strain it, getting tea leaves in your mouth sometimes wasn’t so great!!. Give me tea bags any time! Hey the pie looks yummy, maybe you could get the recipe. It could be in Saltscapes my new Canadian East Coast Magazine I received at Christmas, I will search their recipe column.

That photo of the cup on the counter is just beautiful! Tea, being my Prozac, is always made ritually in a ceramic tea pot. Rug Hooking and tea are my sanity. For coffee, my Keurig gives instant gratification. I’m afraid I use coffee for the caffeinated boost rather than for a true love of the brew.

  6. ahh you’ll never miss it after awhile

  7. Susan black of 29 Black street showed me how to make better photos during our all day art day!

I too am enjoying the laughing whale decaf- but mine is called “fish out of water”- I’m hoping that the taste for the ritual is stronger than the need for the fix! Just the beginning of a bit of weaning from the bean.

Deanne I love reading what you write, your words create a lovely tapestry for me to see and often weave into my own thoughts. How I wish I could wander your beautiful coastlines and come to be in your studio and hook and visit.
Here is a quote someone sent me. You will like it enough to hook it itno a rug
It is an Irish Proverb. “It is in the shelter of each other that the people live”
