Close to home

Dear Diary, It was over twenty years since I had been to Peggy’s Cove yet walking along those rocks last week felt very familiar. When I was a child I went to the beach to walk on the rocks regularly. The roar of the ocean was my radio. I love that crashing sound. Last Friday I got back to Peggy’s Cove for an hour to walk and to listen to the roar of the water … Read entire article »

It was a celebration. I had not been to Newfoundland for over four years and not spent Christmas there for over twenty five years. It felt really good to be walking around Water and Duckworth Street, remembering. … Read entire article »

My friend Don

My friend Don

Dear Diary, My friend Don Miller is just about the best. When he was doing his Masters in Divinity, after finishing an under grad in Drama (I love that combo) I was doing my Masters in Counselling. After we left Acadia, where I only knew him a little, we both settled in Amherst. From there we became yard saling buddies and stayed friends ever since. The other day I dropped in to take his picture … Read entire article »

Springhill Show

Springhill Show

Dear Diary, After two days of washing wool, fourteen loads I am guessing, today was a day to get out of the studio for a bit. On Saturday some of the women from the Springhill Group came to my hook in at the studio. They told me that Dwight, the local rep for the RHGNS had organized a show and hook in and put it all together in a week. There were over fifty mats there of … Read entire article »
