blue fundy and the abstract workshop
Dear Diary, here is one of the blues that inspired my latest go at the Bay of Fundy. I was coming down the stairs yesterday and it struck me once again how beautiful the colurs were. Sometimes the light is just right. Today I spent the day with fifteen women from all over, New Jersey, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Texas, Ontario and Newfoundland, and we started the Abstract Workskhop. We have two days ahead of us … Read entire article »

rug love
Dear Diary, This morning I took a soft great wool and outlines the edges of the Bay of Fundy rug that I started. I have used gold and pale greens for the foreground which would be the dykes, introduced a slippery chocolate colour, and just waiting for the time when I can add the mauves. No doubt after all these natural colours I will be looking to the brights again, like the flower mats I just … Read entire article »

Abstract Rugs and the Rainy Day Nap
Dear Diary, I have been thinking a lot about abstract rugs. As I write this today, I am taking a little break from writing my new online course. If you want to hear me … Read entire article »

called to the mat
Dear Diary, It has been a good few weeks of rug hooking. I finished two rugs I am really pleased with and working my way through another. I always know that the making of my rugs is the basic , most important underlying element of my work. It is the foundation for why I write, why I blog, why I created a business , why I teach. It is not a treat to sit and … Read entire article »

Diane Krys: Take a Line For a Walk
“Drawing is taking a line for a walk.” Â Â Paul Klee Every February, Tacoma, Washington, art glass mecca, makes way for the Madrona Fiber Festival. This year I was part of the invasion. It all went down at the Hotel Murano, which is a hop, skip and a jump from the Museum of Glass and the outstanding Chihuly public art installations that line the way. It’s a flash mob of knitters and spinners. Hand knit frocks … Read entire article »
