heartwarmingly honest letters
Dear Diary, I asked if I could post her (names don’t matter) letter on the blog when she sent it to me during the red bloodstones contest and she said of course. Some how though I couldn’t post it. I decided instead to tell you about it. When I read her letter I felt, in a way, that it was a letter I might have written myself to some one else. She said, that she had … Read entire article »

small town sunday morning
Dear Diary, What is more winter in Canada than hockey. I have hooked a good many rugs of hockey players over the years, mostly in the yard. Truth is most of the hockey I’ve seen happens at the rink. It is my winter reality….watching hockey. I’ve watched for fifteen years and I still don’t know what “off sides” is. I do know though that my family loves it, and I love them. I just follow them … Read entire article »

making dough
Dear Diary, Bread is part of every culture. It has always been part of mine. I have a big silver bread pan that my mother used to put dough in rise. She made traditional loaves of bread, with three buns. With the last bits of dough she would make a tiny loaf for me when I was a child; a loaf that could be cut as soon as it came from the oven and loaded … Read entire article »
swing the pinky at the party
Dear Diary, you might have noticed my pictures are getting better, and more plentiful. My friend Heather has a camera, and I went out and bought the same one because I could learn from her, she from me. We could even swap lenses once in a while. Last night Katherine had our regular foursome to dinner. We are four women who have been friends since our children went to playgroup before they went to school. Some … Read entire article »

may I just get to keep on doing what I have been doing may there be peace in my house, peace in my heart may grace surround us, love abound us may small things matter this year, like they did last year may birds light on our window sills, and snow fall softly in our yards may the eagle fly up the river, not as a sign, but as a pleasure may crows always travel in pairs, may new hearts reach out to you, to find you receive them kindly may the winter not bear down on you, but call you up to meet it may we all learn to speak kind words or to hold our tongue may we hear the melody of a child call our name may we eat ice cream, dance freely, and be foolish may we say our prayers … Read entire article »

kim, kim, write some more
Dear Diary, Brenda and I chuckle sometimes over what we read in Kim’s blog. Kim is a regular at the studio and a bit of a bright spot in our days of cutting wool. She is usually looking for just the right shade, or a spark of inspiration. As Brenda says…” She could write a book.” Her blog is just about daily life, her life as a friend, pet owner, rug hooker, employee, and most of all as a caretaker for her mom. She tells the stories the way they happen, step by step, and you are traveling with her. You never know what she’ll have a picture of on there. Often when she goes to tell us something at the studio, I say I read it on your blog, and … Read entire article »
